Analysis of Common Problems and Solutions for Hydraulic Rotary Actuators (Part 5): Insensitive Operation or No Response

This article analyzes the causes and solutions for the problem of insensitive operation or no response of hydraulic rotary actuators.

In the practical application of hydraulic rotary actuators, "insensitive operation or no response" is a common fault that directly affects the normal operation efficiency of equipment. This problem will cause the hydraulic rotary actuator to fail to respond promptly and accurately to operating instructions, resulting in production process interruptions, disrupted work rhythms, and other adverse consequences. In severe cases, it may also trigger chain problems in subsequent processes. Therefore, in-depth exploration of the fault causes and adoption of targeted solutions are crucial to ensuring production continuity.

Generally speaking, the core reason for insensitive operation or no response of hydraulic rotary actuators is the presence of air in the actuator. The specific countermeasures are as follows:

The presence of air in the actuator will damage the pressure stability of the hydraulic circuit, preventing hydraulic oil from effectively transmitting power, thereby causing abnormal operation response of the hydraulic rotary actuator. The key to solving this type of problem is to remove air from the system. First, fill the hydraulic oil in accordance with the equipment operation specifications, start the hydraulic rotary actuator and make it run reciprocally 20 times. The flow of hydraulic oil will fully agitate the inside of the circuit, allowing the air dissolved in the oil or trapped in the pipelines and actuator to gradually separate out. Then, locate and open the auxiliary oil port on the actuator housing or the test oil port on the valve block, wait patiently for all bubbles to escape from the oil port. After ensuring that the air in the system is completely discharged, close the oil port and restore the normal working state of the hydraulic circuit. At this time, the operation sensitivity of the hydraulic rotary actuator can be restored.

When handling this fault, it is necessary to pay attention to the standardization of the operation process to avoid re-entry of air or damage to the hydraulic system due to improper operation. At the same time, daily maintenance is also indispensable: standardize the hydraulic oil filling process, avoid oil splashing and bubble generation during filling, and ensure that the hydraulic oil level meets the equipment requirements; regularly check the tightness of hydraulic pipelines to prevent air from seeping in through the interfaces; if the equipment is restarted after long-term idleness, it is recommended to perform air bleeding operation before putting it into use, so as to fundamentally reduce the occurrence probability of such faults and ensure the stable operation and operation response performance of the hydraulic rotary actuator.
