Analysis of Common Problems and Solutions for Spiral Hydraulic Rotary Actuators (VII): Abnormal Rotation Fault of Output Flange (Part 2)

It analyzes the latter three causes of abnormal rotation of the output flange of the spiral hydraulic rotary actuator (leakage of the main seal of the piston rod or end cover, dust accumulation and rust on the friction end face, and expansion of seals and bearings caused by incompatible hydraulic oil), puts forward targeted treatment schemes, and also mentions relevant daily maintenance precautions and technical support channels.

There are three additional typical causes for the fault of slow or stopped rotation of the output flange. Corresponding targeted solutions can be adopted based on these causes to ensure the hydraulic rotary actuator returns to normal operation:

 4. Leakage of the Main Seal of the Piston Rod or End Cover

Leakage of the main seal of the piston rod or end cover will lead to the failure to maintain the internal pressure of the hydraulic rotary actuator, thereby affecting the rotation of the flange. To address this situation, first remove the oil pipe on the valve block and the oil plug on the cylinder barrel, then inject hydraulic oil through the oil port on the cylinder barrel and conduct a pressure-holding test (refer to professional operation specifications for the pressure-holding test). If leakage is detected, the main seal components should be replaced in a timely manner.

 5. Dust and Rust on the Friction End Face of the Hydraulic Rotary Actuator

Accumulation of dust and formation of rust on the friction end face of the hydraulic rotary actuator will increase the operation resistance of components and cause obstruction to flange rotation. For such problems, it is necessary to disassemble the hydraulic rotary actuator, thoroughly clean the dirt inside and on the dust seal. If the dust seal has aged or been damaged, it should be replaced simultaneously to avoid recurrence of such problems in the future.

6. Expansion of Seals and Bearings Caused by Different Components of Transmission Hydraulic Oil

This problem only occurs when the standard-type hydraulic rotary actuator is used with special hydraulic oil or other transmission media. Incompatible oil will cause the expansion of seals and bearings, hindering flange rotation. To resolve this fault, disassemble the hydraulic rotary actuator and replace the seals and bearings that are compatible with such hydraulic oil or transmission fluid. If there are technical doubts during the selection and replacement process, professional technical personnel can be contacted in a timely manner for assistance.

The above three types of faults are mostly related to component wear, pollutant intrusion or medium incompatibility. In daily use, it is necessary to do a good job in dust-proof protection of the hydraulic rotary actuator, replace seals regularly and ensure the use of suitable hydraulic oil.
